Title IX and Sexual Misconduct

hg皇冠老牌 is committed to ensuring compliance with Title IX, a federal law that prohibits institutions of higher education from discriminating against students or employees on the basis of sex in any programs or activities.

Sexual misconduct – which includes sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, and stalking – is a kind of discrimination and is prohibited by Title IX and hg皇冠老牌. Title IX requires the University, upon becoming aware of any incident of sexual misconduct, to respond appropriately to protect and maintain the safety of our community, including students, faculty and staff.

It's Your Choice

If you have experienced sexual misconduct, you have the autonomy to choose how you want to move forward. It's your decision if you want to seek medical attention, file an official report or seek confidential support.

What to do After an Assault

After an incident of sexual assault or violence, you have many options when it comes to seeking help, filing a report and accessing resources. Whatever you decide, remember it is your choice how and when to proceed.

How to File a Report

If you believe you have been subjected to sexual or relationship violence, you are encouraged to report the incident so that the University can respond promptly, effectively and equitably in accordance with Title IX procedures.

Sexual Misconduct Policies and Procedures

hg皇冠老牌's sexual and gender-based harassment policy defines prohibited conduct and provide for the prompt and equitable resolution of student and employee complaints alleging any action that would be prohibited by Title IX. They also describe the grievance procedures and process, including how to report or file a complaint and how the University will respond.

Sexual harassment, including sexual violence, is a form of sex discrimination that is illegal under both federal and Rhode Island state law, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, and Section 28-51-2 of the General Laws of Rhode Island.
